Kayla's Story Well unlike most pregnancies yours was planned. See towards the end of the pregnancy I had elevated blood pressure (now I was never diagnosed with preeclampsia, thank goodness) so I was put on bed rest (which by the way was not fun at all) I didn’t realize how boring it would be to lay in bed all day. I went in to the doctor’s on April 28, 2004 for my weekly check up. And apparently I was bigger than to be expected so they preformed an ultrasound to check you out. And they saw that you were a little bigger than expected so that’s when I was to be induced on May 3rd, 2004 @ 7am. When I showed up at the hospital @ 7am they checked me in and all that jazz. They did a physical examination and found that I was already dilated to 3am & 90% effaced. So I was have contractions at home and wasn’t even feeling them (YAY for mommy). They started me on a pitocin drip to get contractions starting stronger. Now I had made sure before all of this that as soon as I could have the epidural I wanted it. So by the time I was 4cm in came the anesteologist. I had already dilated to 5cm without feeling hardly any pain (again, YAY for mommy). After the epidural I went to sleep fro awhile and when I woke up the midwife came in and SHUT OFF my epidural. Now that made mommy kinda mad considering I really didn’t want to feel the pain, but Michelle (the midwife) said that I have to have some feeling down there so I can push. That was at 6pm. Mommy started pushing, now there wasn’t really any pain just the pressure of pushing was enough to almost make give up, but I of course couldn’t do that so I stuck in there. And exactly one hour after we began pushing out you came. Michelle laid you directly on my chest you were just staring into my eyes. Actually the was the only was we knew you were okay. Cause you didn’t even cry. You were such a great baby. And you of course still are. So on Monday May 3rd, 2004 @ 7:00pm we welcomed you Ayanna Mae into this world. You weighed 8lbs. 12oz. & were 21 in. long
